The Hershey Bears are set to take the GIANT Center ice as they kick off their 88th season this weekend featuring a pair of games versus Syracuse, the Home Opener Red Carpet Event, and great giveaways!
The fun starts on Saturday, October 11th for an Opening Night showdown versus the Syracuse Crunch. The puck drops at 7 p.m., but fans are encouraged to arrive early for the Home Opener Red Carpet Event which starts at 4 p.m. on the GIANT Center plaza. It's your first chance to see the new squad up close and get autographs and photos with players and coaches as they walk the red carpet into the arena.
All fans will also receive a rally towel at Saturday's game, courtesy of Eagle Excavating, GIANT, Elizabethtown College, MI Windows, Members 1st, Hollywood Casino, and Tyson.
The action continues on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. versus Syracuse. That game is a Dark Nights Takeover, featuring spooky characters from Dark Nights and Hersheypark Halloween prowling the concourse. Plus, all fans receive a handy PNC Bank Magnet Schedule to plan their season.
Hershey takes the ice this weekend under the direction of new head coach Derek King, while the roster features a compelling mix of returning favorites, exciting newcomers, and top prospects. Among the familiar faces are captain Aaron Ness, Calder Cup winning goal scorer Matt Strome, and netminder Clay Stevenson. Adding to the excitement are highly-touted Capitals draft picks Andrew Cristall and Ilya Protas, who look to make an immediate impact on the AHL scene.
