
Capitals Trade Cannata for Cody Corbett

(Hershey, PA- March 1, 2017)- The Washington Capitals, the NHL affiliate of the Hershey Bears hockey team, have acquired defenseman Cody Corbett from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for goaltender Joe Cannata. Corbett will report to Hershey.Corbett, 23, has split time between the Avalanche's AHL affiliate, the San Antonio Rampage, and ECHL affiliate, the Colorado Eagles, this season. With the Rampage, Corbett has registered 10 points (two goals, eight assists) in 23 contests. He has also posted five points (two goals, three assists) over seven games with the Eagles. Corbett, a native of Lakeland, Minnesota, stands at 6-foot-1, 194-pounds. Corbett has appeared in 93 career AHL games, scoring 25 points (eight goals, 17 assists). He played junior hockey with the Edmonton Oil Kings for three seasons, leading the club to two WHL championships and a Memorial Cup championship in 2013-14.
Cannata, 27, went 11-5-4 with Hershey this season, logging a 3.22 goals against average and a .876 save percentage in 22 appearances. He also played three games with the club's ECHL affiliate, the South Carolina Stingrays. He went a perfect 3-0-0 with South Carolina, registering a 2.33 goals against average and a .916 save percentage.
Hershey’s next game is Friday in Syracuse. The Bears return home for a pair of contests at Giant Center next weekend, battling the rival Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday at 7 p.m. That evening is Penn State Hershey Medical Center T-Shirt Night and Healthcare Night.
