December 2, 2017
The Hershey Bears returned home and battled the Milwaukee Admirals at Giant Center for the first time in over 11 years. Vitek Vanecek pitched a 21 save clean sheet, and Aaron Ness' first goal of the season in the first period proved to be the eventual game-winner in a Bears 3-0 victory.Hershey opened the scoring on Ness' first tally of the season with the Chocolate and White. In his second game inserted into the lineup, Ness received a pass from Chris Bourque and skated into the left faceoff circle. He unloaded a quick shot past Milwaukee goaltender Juuse Saros to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Bourque collected his American Hockey League leading 28th point of the season with the goal at 10:09
The Bears carried a 15-5 shot advantage into the middle period, and doubled their lead on a late strike. After Zach Sill was unable to capitalize on a rebound following an offensive zone rush, Mathias Bau blasted a shot from the left wing into the net. Wayne Simpson and Sill earned the helpers at 17:03, and Hershey extended their shot totals to a 26-13 advantage after 40 minutes.
With 1:10 left in regulation, Jonas Siegenthaler added a shorthanded empty net goal from the offensive blue line to round out a 3-0 Hershey win. Vanecek earned his sixth career AHL shutout, and the first for the Chocolate and White of the 2017-18 regular season.
The Bears outshot Milwaukee 28-21. The contest marked the Admirals first visit to Hershey since Game 5 of the 2006 Calder Cup Finals, a game won by the Bears, 6-4.
