Forward Garrett Pilon Added on Tryout Agreement

(Hershey, PA- April 5, 2017)-The Hershey Bears hockey team announced today that forward Garrett Pilon has been added to the roster on an amateur tryout agreement. Additionally, the club has announced that forward Mason Mitchell has been released from his amateur tryout agreement.Pilon, 18, recorded 65 points (20 goals, 45 assists) and a +26 rating in 67 games with the Kamloops Blazers of the WHL this season. He finished first on the team in assists and third on the team in points. He recorded 18 multi-point games and ranked fourth on the team in goals. The Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, native tallied 112 points (35 goals, 77 assists) in 138 career WHL games with Kamloops over two seasons.
Pilon was a third round selection of the Washington Capitals in the 2016 NHL Draft. On Mar. 29, Pilon signed a three-year, entry-level deal with the Capitals beginning with the 2017-18 season. He is the son of Rich Pilon, a former NHL defender who skated in 631 NHL games with New York Islanders, New York Rangers, and St. Louis Blues.
Hershey hits the road for three games this week. The Bears are outside of the Atlantic Division playoff picture by just one point with five games remaining. Hershey plays tonight at 7:05 p.m. at the PPL Center as the club rematches with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The game may be heard on the Bears Radio Network and viewed on AHL Live.
