Sanford Recalled by Capitals

(Hershey, PA- February 8, 2017)-The Hershey Bears hockey team announced today that forward Zach Sanford has been recalled by the Washington Capitals.Sanford has skated in 20 games with the Capitals this season, registering one assist. The Salem, Massachusetts native was selected in the second round, 61st overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft by Washington and made his NHL debut on Oct. 13, 2016 at Pittsburgh. The 6-foot-4, 203-pound forward turned pro this summer after playing two seasons at Boston College. In 2015-16 as a sophomore, Sanford registered 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) with the Eagles, leading the team in assists, and finishing third in points.
With Hershey, Sanford has 14 points (nine goals, five assists) in 24 games. The forward has registered three multi-point games, including a four-point performance that saw him net two goals and two assists in a 6-1 win over Rochester on Dec. 11. Sanford leads Hershey with two shorthanded goals and has two game-winning goals with the club.
Hershey returns to action in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday. Hershey returns to home ice this Saturday for Capital BlueCross Baseball Cap Night and College Night Delivered by Papa John's. Hershey hosts Hartford at 7 p.m. that evening.
