
GOALTENDER DAN ELLIS SIGNS ON FOR 2015-16

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that the organization has signed goaltender Dan Ellis to a one-year contract for the 2015-16 season. The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.Ellis, 35, spent the majority of last season with the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage and helped the club to its first regular-season division championship. Appearing in 37 games, Ellis posted a record of 22-12-3 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.71 and save percentage of .904. He also dressed in eight NHL games for the parent Florida Panthers, going 4-3-1 with one shutout, a 2.35 goals-against average and .914 save percentage.
Over 12 seasons of professional hockey, the 6-1, 191-pound native of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan has appeared in 195 AHL games with Utah, Hamilton, Iowa, Charlotte and San Antonio. He has compiled a record of 91-86-7 with 16 shutouts, cumulative goals-against average of 2.75 and save percentage of .906.
Ellis’ National Hockey League career spans 212 games and includes stops in Dallas, Nashville, Tampa Bay, Anaheim, Carolina and Florida. He has an NHL record of 87-79-18 with 15 shutouts.
Prior to turning pro, Ellis played 119 games over three years of collegiate hockey at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (CCHA) from 2000-2003. In his rookie year pro, in the one year played in the ECHL with the Idaho Steelheads, Ellis won the Kelly Cup championship and was named 2004 playoff MVP.
Ellis was originally selected by the Dallas Stars in the second round (60th overall) of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.
