BEARS SIGN DEFENSEMAN ERIK BURGDOERFER

August 6, 2014

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that the club has signed defenseman Erik Burgdoerfer to a one-year American Hockey League contract.  The announcement was made by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.

Burgdoerfer, 25, comes to Hershey after playing for current Bears head coach Troy Mann with the ECHL’s Bakersfield Condors last season, in which he put up a career-best 11 goals and 22 points in 67 games while serving as alternate captain.  He also added six points (one goal, five assists) in the Condors’ 16-game run through the Kelly Cup playoffs, the longest playoff run in team history.

The 6-2, 210-pound native of East Setauket, New York played his entire five-year pro career in Bakersfield, where he has piled up 75 points (22 goals, 53 assists).

The undrafted Burgdoerfer, who attended Hershey’s training camp last fall, played four years of collegiate hockey at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (ECAC) prior to turning pro.  With the Engineers, Burgdoerfer recorded 19 points (seven goals, 12 assists) in 129 career games.

Season tickets for the 2014-2015 Hershey Bears regular season are on sale now by calling (717) 508-BEAR.  Many different flexible plans are available and start as low as $170.
