HERSHEY NAMES SCOTT STUCCIO AS NEW "VOICE OF THE BEARS"

September 1, 2011

HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today that Scott Stuccio has been named the team’s new Broadcaster and Media Relations Coordinator for the upcoming 2011-12 season. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Stuccio, 38, is a native of Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and will assume play-by-play duties for the team on the HERSHEY BEARS Radio Network as well as the day-to-day media relations responsibilities for the club. He has been a member of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins broadcast team dating back to 2007-08, and served as the team’s play-by-play announcer for three seasons from 2007-10. Stuccio called the action of the 2008 Calder Cup Finals as Wilkes-Barre/Scranton played the Chicago Wolves, and has been the team’s Director of Communications since the beginning of the 2010-11.

"HERSHEY has a long history of having passionate and talented broadcasters to tell the stories of our team," said BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst. "Scott has demonstrated that passion, and we look forward to hearing him as we hit the ice in October."

Stuccio has previous experience in the home radio booth at Giant Center, as a member of the AHL All-Star Classic radio broadcasting team this past January, and also has a degree in meteorology from Penn State University. Prior to working for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, he was the chief meteorologist at WYOU-TV in Wilkes-Barre.

Stuccio succeeds John Walton, who was named the new Director of Broadcasting and play-by-play voice of the NHL’s Washington Capitals last month.

The BEARS open the 2011-12 regular season on Friday, October 7 at Binghamton, and will open the year with three straight road games prior to the team’s home opener. HERSHEY will host the Norfolk Admirals at Giant Center on Saturday, October 15 at 7:00 p.m., the team’s 74th home opener in team history. For ticket information, call (717) 508-BEAR.
