JOUDREY IS HERSHEY'S 2010-11 MAN OF THE YEAR

March 28, 2011

ANDREW JOUDREY NAMED HERSHEY BEARS 2010-11 IOA/AMERICAN SPECIALTY AHL MAN OF THE YEAR The Hershey Bears are proud to announce that Andrew Joudrey has been named the team’s winner of the IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Hershey community during the 2010-11 season. Andrew has been a vital asset to not only the Hershey Bears team but the community as well since 2006. Each year he takes on more responsibilities and grows both personally and professionally. He approached the staff at the beginning of the season stating he would like to visit the Penn State Children’s Hospital once a month. Andrew stated he is extremely passionate about visiting these children and making them feel special and putting smiles on their faces. He organized every flawless visit. Andrew had the names of the players who would be going well in advance and make sure the players visiting had cards and markers for the children. In addition to his efforts with the Children’s Hospital, he was always the first to volunteer for player appearances. Andrew’s a pillar in the community and fans flock to any appearance he is at. When you meet him, he’ll talk to you as if you’re the only person in the room at that moment, and give you undivided attention. Andrew is one of those persons who you wish you could clone. His compassion for others is what makes him such a great captain and strong leader both on and off the ice. When he’s not making assists, he can be found on local radio stations or visiting sick children. His willingness to go above and beyond speaks volumes of him. He is the shining example of what it means to be a leader, and this is why Hershey proudly nominates center and captain, Andrew Joudrey. Andrew Joudrey is now one of 30 finalists for the AHL’s 2010-11 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall IOA/American Specialty AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the American Hockey League in the coming weeks.
