GORDON, AUCOIN ASSIGNED TO HERSHEY

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE â" December 29, 2010 Capitals Assign Andrew Gordon and Keith Aucoin to Hershey ARLINGTON, Va. â" The Washington Capitals have assigned right wing Andrew Gordon and center Keith Aucoin to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today. Gordon played in eight games with the Capitals, collecting two points (1 goal, 1 assist). A seventh-round choice, 197th overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, Gordon has registered 31 points (16 goals, 15 assists) and 12 penalty minutes in 26 games with Hershey this season. He scored 50 goals for the Bears last season (37 in the regular season, 13 in the playoffs), one of two AHL players to score 50 goals total. He played in the 2010 AHL All-Star Game and was named to the postseason AHL Second All-Star Team. A Porters Lake, Nova Scotia, native, he played three seasons of college hockey at St. Cloud State (WCHA). Aucoin, 32, made his Caps season debut last night against the Montreal Canadiens at Verizon Center. The 5â™9â, 162-pound center has recorded 24 points (8 goals, 16 assists) and 10 penalty minutes in 15 games with Hershey this season. Last season, Aucoin played in nine games for the Capitals, collecting one goal and four assists. He also led the AHL with 106 points (35 goals, 71 assists) and received the Les Cunningham Award as the AHLâ™s MVP for 2009-10. Aucoin has played in 75 career NHL games with the Capitals and Carolina Hurricanes, recording eight goals and 18 assists.
