(HERSHEY, PA) â" The
Hershey Bears will unveil their Calder Cup Championship Banner at
Giant Center prior to their 2010 - 2011 regular season home opener when the Bears will host the Rochester Americans on Saturday, October 16 at 7 p.m.
Saturday nightâ™s Calder Cup Ceremony will begin at 6:15 p.m. with the unveiling of the Calder Cup Championship Banner. Members of the 1979 - 1980 Calder Cup Champion
Hershey Bears team will be on hand to present championship rings to the current members of the Bears who were a part of the 2010 team.
Fans are encouraged to arrive early to celebrate with the Pepsi Party on the Plaza, which will feature live entertainment, giveaways and interactive games. Local rock band âFelix Lighterâ will kick off the event at 4:30 p.m. and the Calder Cup will be on display on the plaza until 6:00 p.m. Guests are encouraged to bring their cameras out for this photo opportunity.
Fans will be able to put their hockey skills to the test with an inflatable hockey shot game from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. and the first 8,000 guests will receive a
Hershey Bears schedule magnet, courtesy of PNC Bank.
Additionally, the
Giant Center Plaza Grille offers a variety of menu items to enjoy before the start of the big game, and fans can replenish their 2010 - 2011
Hershey Bears gear with discounted merchandise for sale on the plaza prior to the game. Select Bears t-shirts will be on sale for $10 and select sweatshirts will be on sale for $15.
During the gameâ™s first intermission, the 1979 - 1980 Calder Cup Championship
Hershey Bears team will be available to sign autographs on the concourse.
Attendees are encouraged to stick around after the game for their chance to own a piece of Bears history during the retro jersey auction immediately following Saturdayâ™s game. The team will auction off the AHL 75th Anniversary retro Bears jerseys worn during the game. The jersey features the word "HERSHEY" in block letters across the front in a slight arc, and the American Hockey League's 75th Anniversary patch on the shoulders. Portions of the proceeds will be donated to Bears Charities.
