The Nine-Time Champions Take On Their 54th Invitation
(Hershey, PA – January 30, 2014) – The Hershey Junior Bears Quebec Team is scheduled to make their annual trip to Quebec City on February 11th to compete in the International Pee-Wee World Championships. The tournament is host to 120 teams from 16 different countries.  Better than 2,250 eleven and twelve-year-old hockey players compete in Quebec’s capital city.  It is the oldest and most prestigious tournament of its kind in the world.
This year, marks the 54th year that Hershey has been honored with an invitation: The longest consecutive attendance streak of any team in the world. The team has taken back the championship to Hershey nine years; 1976, 1984, 1994, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2009, 2010, and 2012. The 2013-2014 Hershey Jr. Bears will prepare and compete under the coaching direction of Doug Yingst, President & General Manager of the Hershey Bears.
“We are honored once again to be part of the World Championship,” said Doug Yingst, President and GM of the Hershey Bears. “We strive to instill a strong commitment to our youth that features sportsmanship, dedication, education and hockey development.”
Hershey’s participation in the Quebec Peewee Tournament provides its minor hockey players the opportunity to experience “up close” the unique culture of French speaking Quebec City. Some of the wonderful Quebec families have hosted Hershey players for over 28 years. Many of these host families have made multiple visits to Hershey, PA.
