BEARS AND STARS IN PIVOTAL GAME 5 FRIDAY NIGHT

June 11, 2010

The BEARS look to sweep three road games in the Calder Cup Finals Friday night, looking also to move within a single victory back-to-back Calder Cup titles. HERSHEY takes on the Texas Stars in Game 5 at Cedar Park Center, the final game of the series to be played in the state of Texas. Faceoff is at 8:30 p.m. eastern. In a thrilling Game 4 on Wednesday night, HERSHEY rallied from a 2-1 deficit in the second period and posted a 4-2 win to even the series at two games apiece. Jay Beagle tied the game in the second, and John Carlson tapped home the game-winning strike late in the third period with a pass from Keith Aucoin. Alexandre Giroux scored an empty-net tally in the closing moments to seal the win for the BEARS, their second straight in the Lone Star State after back-to-back losses at Giant Center. With the victory, the BEARS also regained home-ice advantage in the best-of-seven championship round. The win on Wednesday also forced at the very least a Game 6 at Giant Center on Monday night at 7:00 p.m. The game is a complete sellout, with all tickets purchased on Thursday in a span of less than four hours. Giant Center will be open Friday night for fans to watch the game from Cedar Park Center. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. on Friday for the 8:30 start, with free admission and free parking available. The BEARS are two wins away from becoming the first back-to-back Calder Cup champion since the 1991 Springfield Indians. It would also be HERSHEY’S third title in the last five seasons. Game 5 can be seen at 8:30 p.m. on ABC-27’s digital channel 27.2, which can be seen also on Comcast channel 246 and Verizon channel 461. CSN Washington will also carry the game for fans in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia live, making the game available for fans with DirectTV as well via that medium. Game 4 can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (Soft Rock 100.1 WQIC and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 8:10 p.m. John Walton and ABC-27’s Gregg Mace have the call from Cedar Park Center.
