BEAGLE, NEUVIRTH RECALLED TO WASHINGTON

Capitals Recall Jay Beagle, Michal Neuvirth from Hershey

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have recalled center Jay Beagle and goaltender Michal Neuvirth from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL), vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Beagle, 24, is a fourth-year pro who stands 6'3", 204 pounds. The Calgary, Alberta, native has played in 17 games for Hershey this year and has two goals and six assists.

Beagle, who wears No. 83 for Washington, made his NHL debut with the Caps last season on Feb. 11. He played in three regular-season NHL games and also suited up in four playoff games. Beagle had nine points (four goals, five assists) in 47 games regular-season game with Hershey and added a goal and three assists in 18 playoff games, as the Bears won the Calder Cup.

Neuvirth (NOY-vihrt), 21, is a second-year pro who stands 6'1", 190 pounds. The Usi Labem, Czech Republic, native is 6-3-0 with Hershey this year and has a 2.34 GAA and a .915 save percentage.

Neuvirth, who wears No. 30 for Washington, made his NHL debut last season on Feb. 14, earning a win at Tampa Bay. He has played in five NHL games and has a 2-1-0 record. Neuvirth led Hershey to the Calder Cup last year and received the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy as the AHL's playoff MVP. He was 16-6 in the playoffs with a 1.92 GAA.
