FLEISCHMANN ASSIGNED TO HERSHEY ON CONDITIONING
10/24/2009 - Capitals Assign Tomas Fleischmann to Hershey for Conditioning Stint

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have assigned left wing Tomas Fleischmann to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) on a conditioning stint, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Fleischmann has missed the start of the Capitals' season recovering from a blood clot in his leg but returned to practice with the team this week. The 25-year-old fourth-year NHLer had career highs in goals (19) and points (37) in 73 games for Washington last season and has totaled 33 goals and 44 assists (77 points) in 191 career NHL games.

Fleischmann spent parts of two seasons playing for the Bears, recording 52 goals and 62 assists (114 points) in 102 games. He also played 39 Calder Cup playoff games for the Bears, helping lead the team to the 2006 AHL championship while posting the most playoff assists in the league in back-to-back seasons.
