HERSHEY LOOKS TO CLOSE OUT BRIDGEPORT SUNDAY

April 17, 2010

HERSHEY looks to close out the Bridgeport Sound Tigers Sunday at the Arena at Harbor Yard, leading the best-of-seven East Division Semi-Finals three games to none. Face-off in downtown Bridgeport Sunday is at 3:00 p.m. After struggling at times to score goals in the first two games of the series, the BEARS made up for lost time Saturday night. HERSHEY scored six times in the second period, routing the Sound Tigers 7-2 at Harbor Yard. Andrew Gordon picked up the hat trick Saturday night in the win, scoring three times against Bridgeport goaltender Scott Munroe. Alexandre Giroux scored twice, and Steve Pinizzotto added a second period tally to lead the offensive charge. Michal Neuvirth won his second consecutive playoff game, losing a shutout late in the third period when Bridgeport’s Greg Mauldin scored his first of the postseason. There is only one other game on Sunday’s Calder Cup playoff schedule, and it involves the other East Division Semi-Final. Albany, already leading two games to none over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, takes on the Penguins at Mohegan Sun Arena. Face-off is at 3:05 p.m. The Pens will be short-handed on defense, as Ben Lovejoy was recalled Saturday to Pittsburgh. Sunday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 2:40 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from southern Connecticut.
