BEARS LOOK FOR 58TH WIN FRIDAY IN ROCHESTER

April 1, 2010

HERSHEY looks to surpass the 1992-93 Binghamton Rangers and officially post the most wins in a single season in AHL history Friday, facing the Rochester Americans at Blue Cross Arena. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m. The BEARS pulled into a tie with the 92-93 Rangers Wednesday night, defeating the Syracuse Crunch 5-2 at the Onondaga County War Memorial. Alexandre Giroux scored two goals to give him 44 on the season, and Keith Aucoin established a new career high by recording his 100th point of the season. Rookie forward Cody Eakin, playing in his first AHL game, scored a first period goal to help the HERSHEY cause. Goaltender Jason Bacashihua won his 17th game of the season against just two regulation setbacks to help the Chocolate and White reach the single-season wins summit. Rochester, fresh off clinching a 2010 Calder Cup playoff berth Wednesday night with a win at Grand Rapids, holds down the second spot in the AHL’s North Division standings, with a potential first round matchup with the Abbotsford Heat looming in the division semi-finals. HERSHEY has won all three meetings this season against their longtime AHL rivals, and have also won seven of the last night games head-to-head. Keith Aucoin, just named Thursday with teammates Alexandre Giroux and Andrew Gordon as AHL All-Stars, leads the BEARS in scoring this season against the Amerks with four goals and seven points. Friday's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:45 p.m. John Walton has the play-by-play from downtown Rochester.
