BEARS PUT WRAPS ON FOUR-GAME ROAD TRIP WEDNESDAY

March 17, 2010

HERSHEY concludes a four-game road trip Wednesday night, taking on the Binghamton Senators at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m. With one standings point Wednesday in New York’s southern tier, or an Albany regulation, overtime or shootout loss at home against Worcester, the BEARS will win the 2009-10 East Division title. After picking up a victory this past Friday in Adirondack against the Phantoms, HERSHEY has stumbled on the current four-game trek. The BEARS fell in a shootout in Springfield to the Falcons 5-4 Saturday and also dropped a 6-2 decision to the Worcester Sharks at the DCU Center Sunday afternoon. The Chocolate and White, through 66 regular season games this season, have never lost three in a row as they head to Binghamton Wednesday. The Senators have moved within one point of fifth place Adirondack in the East Division standings heading down the home stretch of the 2009-10 regular season, having taken points in eight of its last ten. With 13 regular season games left, Binghamton is nine points behind the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (Atlantic Division crossover) for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East. Around the AHL Wednesday night, the Adirondack Phantoms face a tough test when they host the Western Conference leading Hamilton Bulldogs at the Glens Falls Civic Center at 7:00 p.m. Worcester is in Albany, Providence skates at Hartford against the Wolf Pack, Manchester is at Syracuse, the Norfolk Admirals are in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to play the Penguins at 7:05 p.m. , and Peoria takes on San Antonio at AT&T Center. Wednesday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:45 p.m. John Walton calls the play-by-play from New York’s southern tier.
