BEARS BACK AT HOME SATURDAY VS. PHANTOMS

HERSHEY looks for a second consecutive win against the Adirondack Phantoms in the back half of a home-and-home series at Giant Center. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. along HERSHEYPARK Drive. The BEARS enjoyed a 5-1 win Friday over the Adirondack Phantoms Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center. Michael Dubuc, Andrew Gordon and Kyle Wilson scored goals in the second period, and Boyd Kane struck for two goals in the third to pace the offense. John Carlson was named the game’s number one star, handing out three assists. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth won his seventh game of the season, evening his record against the Phantoms at 1-1-0. The BEARS are now 9-3-0-0 away from Giant Center this season, the most road wins by any team in the AHL entering play Saturday. HERSHEY has a six-point lead over three different clubs in the East Division race. The six-point advantage is tied for the largest the BEARS have enjoyed thus far in 2009-10. 12 of HERSHEY’S first 21 games have come on the road this season. The three teams (Binghamton, Norfolk, Albany) that trail the BEARS by six points all have played more games this season. The Chocolate and White have one game in hand on the Senators, two in hand on Albany and three in hand on Norfolk as play gets started Saturday. 14 games are on the AHL docket for Saturday, including Hamilton at Lake Erie, Houston at Toronto, Providence at Hartford and Portland is at Lowell to play the Devils. Elsewhere on Saturday, the Rochester Americans are in Binghamton to play the Senators, Syracuse travels to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to play the Penguins, Bridgeport visits Worcester and the Sharks at the DCU Center, Albany is at Norfolk for a second consecutive night, Manchester skates at Springfield, Manitoba is at Chicago, Grand Rapids is in Peoria, Milwaukee takes on San Antonio, and Abbotsford plays in Rockford against the IceHogs.
