BEARS RETURN HOME SATURDAY TO FACE NORFOLK

February 13, 2009

The BEARS look to avoid a season-high four-game losing streak Saturday as the Norfolk Admirals come to town at 7:00 p.m. Saturday’s game is the eighth meeting of 10 this season between the two teams, with HERSHEY winning all of the previous seven. Binghamton scored three times in the second period and two more in the third to defeat HERSHEY Friday night 5-1 at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. The loss was the second of the season for the BEARS against Binghamton in five games. Josh Hennessy scored two goals for the Senators, and goaltender Jeff Glass won his fifth game of the season. Graham Mink extended his goal scoring streak to five straight games, scoring his 21st of the season late in the second period. The BEARS will return to New York’s southern tier to face the Senators again one week from Wednesday. Norfolk is in last place in the East Division, having won just 19 of 50 games to begin the season. The Admirals trail the sixth place Albany River Rats by eight points entering play Saturday, and trail the Binghamton Senators by 19 points for the fourth and final playoff spot in the East. The Albany River Rats, winners of four straight, host the Lowell Devils Saturday at Times Union Center. Face-off is at 7:00 p.m. The Binghamton Senators remain at home after a win over HERSHEY Friday to host the Philadelphia Phantoms at 7:05 p.m. at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Wilkes-Barre/Scranton returns to action Saturday with a home game against the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7:05 p.m. Bridgeport is the lone team in the division that does not play Saturday. Saturday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490 AM, Sportsjuice.com, AHLLive.com) beginning with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from GIANT Center. Tickets are still available for Saturday’s home game with Norfolk by calling or visiting the GIANT Center box office at (717) 534-3911.
