BEARS FALL TO BULLDOGS WEDNESDAY 4-2

February 11, 2009

HAMILTON RALLIES TO DOWN BEARS WEDNESDAY By: John Walton Hamilton finished off a two-game season sweep of the BEARS Wednesday night, winning 4-2 in front of a crowd of 6,613 at GIANT Center. Graham Mink got the scoring started Wednesday night, scoring his 20th goal of the season at 3:29. Hamilton was able to find the equalizer just seconds later at 4:16 when David Desharnais potted his 13th of the season, but the BEARS would regain the lead before intermission. Kyle Wilson deflected a puck off a Hamilton defender and past former HERSHEY goaltender Marc Denis at 15:09 of the first to lift the BEARS to a 2-1 lead. Daren Machesney stopped 11 of 12 first period shots he faced. The Bulldogs scored twice in the second period to take a 3-2 lead after two. Yanick Lehoux was able to score his 16th goal of the season as a Hamilton power play had just expired at 4:42, and Kyle Chipchura scored his 13th of the campaign at 18:02 after teammate Ryan Russell rang a puck off the crossbar. The visiting team rounded out the scoring in the third period, picking up Ryan White's 11th goal of the year at the 9:15 mark. The loss marked just the second time this season that HERSHEY has lost back-to-back home games in regulation. Machesney absorbed the defeat, his seventh of the season against 14 wins. Notes: The BEARS will travel to Binghamton Friday to face the Senators at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena. Face-off is at 7:05 p.m. HERSHEY then returns home to play the Norfolk Admirals Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. Tickets are available at the GIAN T Center box office, or by calling (717) 534-3911. Center Jay Beagle was recalled Wednesday morning by the Washington Capitals and made his NHL debut Wednesday night in New York against the Rangers. Bob Woods said on his pregame radio show that Kris Mayotte was "likely" to get a start this weekend. Bears Radio Network Three Stars of the Game 1.
