Think Green on Wednesday and Puck-er Up on Saturday

February 9, 2009

CONTACT: Melissa Stradnick - 717-534-8945 (HERSHEY, PA) â€" After a busy weekend at the barn, the fun continues on Wednesday when the BEARS take on the Hamilton Bulldogs at 7 PM. It’s “Think Green Night” and fans are encouraged to bring old cell phones and accessories to be donated to HopeLine - a service that provides cell phones to abuse victims. Anyone who donates will receive a coupon for 20% off any retail location for that night only. Drop-off locations will be located at all entry points. HopeLine will accept all service providers, any condition of phones or accessories as well. Many individuals have these lying around, so it’s a great time to clean house and help those in need. Verizon Wireless’ HopeLine® program puts the nation’s most reliable wireless network to work in communities across the country by turning unused wireless phones into support for victims of domestic violence. Wireless phones, batteries and other accessories are collected at more than 2,000 Verizon Wireless Communications Stores nationwide and in special collections throughout the year. HopeLine collects phonesâ€"from any manufacturer, any wireless carrier and in any conditionâ€"as part of the HopeLine recycling efforts. Phones that are too old or deemed "beyond economic value" are immediately put into a recycling stream, where they are properly disposed of according to environmental guidelines. The remaining phones are refurbished, which includes “scrubbing” all personal data from the phones, then put in to the HopeLine inventory. In addition, the evening will feature trivia and various information on how to “Think Green” and help the environment. Also, the acting Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Agency John Hanger will be at the barn. HERSHEY BEARSwould like to thank Hershey Entertainment & Resorts, Verizon Wireless, The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection Agency, and Pepsi for their support. Finally, it’s “Hatfield Dollar dog Night” where hot dogs will be offered for a dollar each at various concession stands. Then on Saturday, the Norfolk Admirals visit Chocolate Town, and fans should “Puck-er Up” for Valentine’s Day. There will be a Valentine’s Day jersey auction, where the BEARS will wear special jerseys that will be auctioned off after the game for charity. In addition, the Hershey’s Kissmobile will be outside on the plaza for photo opportunities. Fans will want to visit the free 99.3 KISS FM “Kissing Booth” located on the concourse outside section 115. Photos will be taken and posted on the KISS-FM website. BEARS fans will want to be on the lookout for KISS-FM DJ’s Mike Miller & OC, as they will be playing Cupid throughout the game. They will be giving away prizes such as a couple’s massage at THE SPA AT THE HOTEL HERSHEY, and an overnight stay at HERSHEY LODGE. Grab your loved one and celebrate Valentine’s Day with the HERSHEY BEARS. The wives and girlfriends of the players will have various Valentine’s Day raffles and sale items on both Wednesday and Saturday. They will be located outside section 119 with all proceeds benefitting a BEARS charity. They will be selling Hershey candy bags with a signed player card, and HERSHEY BEARS Valentine bracelets. Raffle tickets will also be available for a unique BEARS signed photo quilt. Be sure to stop by to get your one-of-a-kind gift and support a great cause. In celebration of Chocolate Covered February, fans will receive pieces of candy as they exit the game, compliments of The Hershey Company. The BEARS would like to thank the Hershey Company for graciously donating all the candy. *All information subject to change without notice. Each Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday BEARS home game (except HERSHEYPARK pass nights) tickets will be offered for $10.00 in sections 210 and 211â€"a savings of $6.00 per ticket. Each fan in sections 210 - 211 will also receive a custom designed IT’S ALL ABOUT THE CUP t-shirt. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled throughout the season because you never know what regional celebrity you could be sitting with! Tickets will be available for purchase at the beginning of each month.
