BEARS BACK IN ACTION FRIDAY WITH RIVER RATS
11/07/2008 - The BEARS begin a busy road weekend in the East Division Friday, taking on the Albany River Rats at Times Union Center. Face-off Friday is 7:00 p.m. It's the first game action for HERSHEY since Sunday, when the club posed a furious third period rally to force overtime, but ultimately lost in a shootout 4-3 in Philadelphia. The BEARS begin play Friday night tied with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers for first place in the East Division race. Both teams lead the third place Phantoms by five points. It's back to action Friday for goaltender Simeon Varlamov. Varlamov has been sidelined due to injury since October 17, but is expected to start Friday against the River Rats. The BEARS will be without Graham Mink, Tyler Sloan and Dean Arsene in the Capital District. All three are sidelined due to injury. Around the East Division Friday, the Binghamton Senators will host the Syracuse Crunch at Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena at 7:05 p.m., while the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins return from a lengthy road trip to face the Lowell Devils at home at 7:05 p.m. The last place Norfolk Admirals, who have just one win in 10 games this season, host the Rockford IceHogs at Norfolk Scope Friday at 7:15 p.m. Elsewhere, Philadelphia is at Manchester at 7:35 p.m. Bridgeport is idle Friday. HERSHEY'S busy weekend away from home continues Saturday with a game at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and a Sunday afternoon tilt with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Arena at Harbor Yard. Face-off Saturday is at 7:05 p.m., with Sunday's game slated to begin at 4:00 p.m. Friday's game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM, 1490 AM, AHLLive.com, Sportsjuice.com) beginning with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. John Walton has the call from upstate New York.
