BEARS ANNOUNCE 2008-09 ROSTER

10/07/2008 - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: October 7, 2008 CONTACT: John Walton – HERSHEY BEARS – (717) 682-6470 BEARS RELEASE 2008-09 ROSTER 29 PLAYERS ELIGIBLE TO PLAY WEDNESDAY NIGHT IN REGULAR SEASON OPENER, BRYAN HELMER NAMED TEAM CAPTAIN TUESDAY ALONG WITH FOUR ALTERNATES HERSHEY – The HERSHEY BEARS announced today the team's official roster of players that will begin the 2008-09 regular season. The club also announced Tuesday the five players that will assume the captaincy of the team this season. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst. The team is listed below, in numerical order: 1-Daren Machesney-G 2-Patrick McNeill-D 4-Josh Godfrey-D 5-Tyler Sloan-D 6-Sean Collins-D 7-Karl Alzner-D 10-Andrew Gordon-RW 11-Keith Aucoin-C 12-Alexandre Giroux-LW 13-Steve Pinizzotto-RW 14-Jay Beagle-C 15-Michael Dubuc-LW 17-Chris Bourque-LW 18-Kyle Wilson-C 19-Darren Reid-RW 20-Bryan Helmer-D 21-Graham Mink-RW 22-Francois Bouchard-RW 23-Andrew Joudrey-C 24-Mathieu Perreault-C 25-Maxime Lacroix-LW 26-Quintin Laing-LW 27-Grant McNeill-D/F 29-Dean Arsene-D 30-Michal Neuvirth-G 31-Simeon Varlamov-G 32-Greg Amadio-D 36-Oskar Osala-LW 37-Sami Lepisto-D The BEARS also announced Tuesday that Bryan Helmer will serve as the team's captain. Graham Mink and Dean Arsene were named alternate captains at home for 2008-09, with Keith Aucoin and Quintin Laing wearing the "A" on the road this season. HERSHEY opens the 2008-09 regular season Wednesday night in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton at 7:05 p.m. The team's 71st home opener will be Saturday, October 18 against the Syracuse Crunch at GIANT Center.
