After NHL Debut, Mitchell Re-assigned to Hershey

(Hershey, PA- April 10, 2017)-The Washington Capitals announced today that forward Garrett Mitchell has been re-assigned to the Hershey Bears hockey team.Mitchell made his NHL debut yesterday for the Capitals in Washington's 2-0 loss to Florida. Mitchell played 8:48, was credited with two hits, and was named the third star of the game. The Capitals selected the native of Regina, Saskatchewan in the sixth round, 175th overall, in the 2009 NHL Draft. He has spent the past six seasons in Washington’s organization, and currently is in his second year as the captain of Hershey.
Mitchell has skated in 352 career games with Hershey, scoring 102 points (46 goals, 56 assists) to go along with 560 penalty minutes. He has registered 20 points (10 goals, 10 assists) in 70 games with Hershey this season.
Hershey continues its playoff push with the final two games of the regular season this weekend. The Bears visit Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday before returning home to Giant Center on Saturday. That evening is Team Awards Night and Dietz and Watson Ham Shoot Night as Hershey ends the season by hosting Providence at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale now.
