(Hershey, PA- March 24, 2017)-The Washington Capitals have recalled forward Paul Carey from the
Hershey Bears hockey team.
On Monday, Carey was named the CCM/AHL Player of the Week after posting eight points (six goals, two assists) in three games last weekend. The forward notched a career-high four goals in Hershey's 6-4 win over Hartford on Mar. 18. The forward has tallied 55 points (24 goals, 31 assists) in 55 games with Hershey this season. He tied for first on the team in goals and ranks sixth in the AHL in points.
Carey, 28, made his 2016-17 season debut with the Capitals on Nov. 20 against Columbus and skated in four games with Washington this season. He appeared in four games with the Capitals last season and scored the game-tying goal in the third period on Feb. 6 at New Jersey, marking his first NHL goal. Carey was selected by Colorado in the fifth round, 135th overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft and has registered two points (one goal, one assist) in 30 career NHL games with Colorado and Washington.
Hershey is back in action in St. John’s this weekend to battle the IceCaps. Pregame coverage starts at 2 p.m. ET on both Saturday and Sunday as Hershey makes its final trip to St. John’s. The puck drops at 2:30 p.m. ET both days. The games are available via the Bears Radio Network and AHL Live.
