Sanford and Vrana Recalled by Washington

02/17/2017 - (Hershey, PA- February 17, 2017)-The Washington Capitals have recalled forwards Zach Sanford and Jakub Vrana from the Hershey Bears hockey team.

Sanford, 22, returns to the Capitals after scoring his first NHL goal on Feb. 11 in Washington's 6-4 win versus Anaheim. Sanford's tally was the game-winning goal. The Salem, Mass., native has two points (one goal, one assist) in 21 games with Washington this season.  Sanford was drafted by the Capitals in the second round, 61st overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft. Sanford has registered 16 points (11 goals, five assists) in 25 games with Hershey this season. 

Vrana, 20, has skated in 12 games with the Capitals this season, posting three points (one goal, two assists). He made his NHL debut on Dec. 1 against the Islanders and scored his first NHL goal on Dec. 9 at Buffalo. Vrana tallied his first multi-point game with two assists on Dec. 13 against the Islanders. The Capitals drafted Vrana in the first round, 13th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft. The native of Prague, Czech Republic has tallied 25 points (13 goals, 12 assists) in 33 games with Hershey this season.  

The Bears visit Providence tonight and Saturday at 7:05 p.m. before completing the weekend with a 3 p.m. game in Bridgeport on Sunday. All games may be heard on the Bears Radio Network and viewed on AHL Live. Hershey returns to home ice on Saturday, Feb. 25 to host the Toronto Marlies at 7 p.m. That evening is Ames Janitorial Services Rally Towel Night and Banking/Finance Night.
