Galiev's Hat Tricks Gives Bears 5-3 Win

February 3, 2017

(Binghamton, NY- February 3, 2017)-Stanislav Galiev notched his first American Hockey League hat trick to lead the Hershey Bears to a 5-3 win over the Binghamton Senators Friday night. Hershey completed a four-game road trip by collecting seven of eight possible points and going 3-0-0-1 away from Giant Center.

Galiev scored his first of three goals at the 13:32 mark of the second period. After Chris Bourque tied the game with his 13th goal of the season at 4:22, Galiev gave the Bears a lead they would never relinquish. The Senators turned the puck over in front of their own net, and Galiev beat Senators netminder Matt O’Connor blocker side to make it 3-2 Hershey.

Only 5:44 into the third period, Galiev struck again. Hershey's Paul Carey pulled O’Connor out of position and was denied from the left side of the net. He recollected the puck and found Galiev open in the slot. The forward fired the puck into the open goal for his 10th marker of the season. Brad Malone also assisted on what would turn out to be the winning tally.

After Chris Rumble’s power play goal at 8:58 of the third period cut Hershey’s lead to 4-3, Galiev capped off his impressive night, redirecting a Carey pass over the glove of O’Connor. The hat trick was Hershey’s first since Travis Boyd notched three goals versus Lehigh Valley on Feb. 6, 2016, and Galiev’s first hat trick since he scored three goals as member of the ECHL’s Reading Royals on Dec. 15, 2012.

Garrett Mitchell also scored for Hershey in the victory. Hershey netminder Vitek Vanecek earned his team-leading 11th win of the season as he stopped 30 shots. Both teams finished the evening with 33 shots on goal.
Hershey returns home to Giant Center tomorrow to host the St. John's IceCaps at 7 p.m. It's Chocolate Covered February, Faith & Family Night, and there will be a CommunityAid Clothing Drive that evening. On Sunday, Hershey hosts St. John's for a special 2 p.m. puck drop.
