Bears Recall Goalie Parker Milner

(Hershey, PA- January 24, 2017)-The Hershey Bears announced a pair of roster moves today in conjunction with the club’s ECHL affiliate, the South Carolina Stingrays. Hershey has recalled goaltender Parker Milner from South Carolina and defenseman Joey Leach has been returned to the Stingrays.Milner, 26, has been a large part of South Carolina’s success this season. The Pittsburgh, PA native has posted a 17-8-0 record and a .910 save percentage this season with the Stingrays. Milner’s 2.37 goals against average is the third best mark in the ECHL, and his 17 victories are tied for the fourth most in the ECHL. He has also posted one shutout this season, stopping all 20 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over Greenville on Jan. 6.
The 6-foot-1, 187-pound goaltender was a member of the 2015 ECHL All-Star game while with the Quad City Mallards. Milner has appeared in 15 AHL games with Iowa and Bridgeport over the past three seasons, registering a 6-5-0-0 record with a 3.12 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. Prior to turning pro, Milner was an accomplished netminder at Boston College, leading the Eagles to three Hockey East titles and two NCAA Championships. He was the MVP of the 2012 NCAA Tournament and was twice an All-Tournament Team member.
Milner was signed to a one-year AHL contact by the Bears on July 7, 2016. He will join the team in Hartford and will wear #31 for Hershey.
Leach, 24, had three assists in 18 games with Hershey to go along with a plus/minus of +8. He has appeared in four games with South Carolina, registering three assists.
Hershey is on the road for four straight games, including three this week On Wednesday night, Hershey visits the XL Center to battle the Hartford Wolf Pack. The puck drops at 7 p.m. and the game may be heard on the Bears Radio Network.
