(Hershey, PA – July 14, 2016) – After 48 years with the Hershey Bears and the American Hockey League (AHL), Randy Waybright, Director of Off-Ice Officials, has announced his retirement.
Randall “Randy” Waybright started his career with Hershey Entertainment & Resorts (HE&R) in 1968 serving in the Sales Department of the organization. He then moved on to lead the best off-ice officiating staff in the American Hockey League (AHL).
“Randy has been played a significant role in the Bears’ game day operations at GIANT Center and Hersheypark Arena for many years,” says Doug Yingst. “We can’t thank him enough for his years of selfless service to the organization and wish him well in his retirement.”
During his time with the organization, Randy has seen many things change and evolve in the sport of ice hockey. He has also had the opportunity to work with many different staff members within the organization.
“I have seen a lot of changes,” says Waybright. “Operations have gone from simple manual recordings to more complex computerized processes. I have also had the great opportunity to work with two general managers for the Bears, Frank Mathers and Doug Yingst. I am proud to call them good friends.”
The Hershey Bears thank Randy for his years of dedicated service and will miss having him be part of this storied organization.
