Marlies Force Game Five with 5-0 Win

May 27, 2016

TORONTO, ONTARIO, Canada – William Nylander notched a hat trick and T.J. Brennan recorded four assists to propel the Toronto Marlies to a 5-0 victory over the Hershey Bears in game four of the Eastern Conference Finals on Friday night at Ricoh Coliseum.  The Bears now lead the best-of-seven series three games to one.

Nylander started things off by scoring inside the final minute of a tightly played opening period.  A slap shot attempt by T.J. Brennan was blocked, and from the mid-slot, Nylander turned and fired a shot past the blocker of Justin Peters at 19:28.

Late in the second, Nylander doubled the Marlies’ lead.  Connor Carrick faked a shot from the center point and turned it into a slap-pass to his left.  Nylander one-timed the pass high into the net at 18:35.

Penalty trouble would then doom the Bears, as Toronto would finish off their victory with three straight tallies on the power play.  Stuart Percy would fire a puck from the left side that Peters stopped, but the rebound came right to Josh Leivo for the tap-in at 6:59.

Carrick made it a 4-0 game when his one-timer from the left side sailed past a screened Peters just 25 seconds later.

Nylander completed the hat trick with a slapper from long-range while the Bears were playing down two men.

Peters finished with 28 saves but fell to 10-5 in the postseason.  Two nights after being pulled from his game three start, Antoine Bibeau turned away all 18 shots faced to improve to 6-4.  The Bears finished the night 0-for-4 on the power play and 2-for-5 on the penalty kill.
