Watch Now

November 14, 2015

HERSHEY, Pa. – Bracken Kearns took the Bridgeport Sound Tigers’ first shot of the game and it found the net, and Chris Gibson stopped all 27 shots he faced at the other end to help the visitors hold the Hershey Bears off the score sheet for the second consecutive night in a 5-0 victory on Saturday at GIANT Center.

Kearns would score just 39 seconds in.  He carried down the left wing on a two-on-one and snapped a shot over the glove of Justin Peters for a 1-0 lead.

Matt Finn’s first goal with his new team made it 2-0 when he slapped a pass from Ben Holmstrom into the net at 16:33.

The Sound Tigers then struck for two goals separated by 43 seconds early in the middle period to open up a 4-0 advantage that the squad held at the second intermission.  At 2:48, Alan Quine tucked a last-chance effort at the net front inside the left post for his seventh of the season.  Later, the Bears caught a tough break when Ryan Stanton and Paul Carey collided in their own end, giving Ryan Pulock a full breakaway that he finished with a backhander at 3:31.  Dan Ellis came on in relief and stopped all five shots he faced.

One shot that Ellis could not get was one that was going wide from the left point off of Kevin Czuczman’s stick.  The puck hit the body of a Bears defenseman at the right side of the crease and bounced into the net at 13:17 of the third period, rounding out the scoring.

Gibson improved to 7-2-0 with the win.  Peters dropped to 3-2-2 with six saves on 10 shots, while Ellis earns no decision with 11 saves on 12 shots faced in 36:29 in relief.

The Bears are home again tomorrow, November 15 for a 5:00 PM faceoff against the Rochester Americans.  The Bears will wear special camouflage jerseys that will be auctioned live post-game, and all fans in attendance will receive an American flag courtesy of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Local 214.  Individual tickets for this and all Bears home games are on sale at the GIANT Center box office, by calling 717-508-BEAR or online at TicketMaster.com.
