PENGUINS EARN BIG WIN OVER BEARS

November 14, 2015

WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Kael Mouillierat scored a power play goal in the first period, and the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins added six more while riding Matt Murray’s 24 saves in skating to a 7-0 win over the Hershey Bears on Friday night at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The Penguins got the game’s first goal on their first power play chance of the night, when Mouillierat took a low slapper into traffic.  The puck slid past a screened Dan Ellis at 4:59 for a 1-0 lead.  Ellis made two huge saves later in the frame to keep the game close.

But Wilkes-Barre/Scranton would chase Ellis, scoring three times in the middle stanza.  Just 19 seconds into the period, Dominik Simon ripped a sharp-angle wrist shot from the right circle that eluded Ellis to the short side.

Conor Sheary was later able to corral a bouncing puck and control it while trying to skate by a Bears defenseman.  He won the battle, and snapped a shot into the upper-right corner for a 3-0 lead at 7:39.

Scott Wilson’s shot from the slot would deflect off of a Hershey penalty killer and past Ellis at 10:34, giving the Penguins a 4-0 advantage.  Justin Peters came on in relief and stopped all six shots he faced, including a Jean-Sebastien Dea breakaway.

Dea would get a second crack at Peters in the third, and this time clanged a shot off the right post and in at the 9:25 mark for a 5-0 lead.

Oskar Sundqvist and Tom Kuhnhackl would add goals 25 seconds apart inside the final two minutes of play to round out the scoring.

Ellis stopped 10 of 14 shots in taking the loss, and dropped to 3-3-1 on the season.  Peters turned aside 16 of 19 in relief and earned no decision.  Murray improved to 8-1-0 with his second shutout.

The Bears return home tomorrow, November 14 to battle the Bridgeport Sound Tigers.  Individual tickets for this and all Bears home games are on sale at the GIANT Center box office, by calling 717-508-BEAR or online at TicketMaster.com.
