BEARS RECALL FORWARD AUSTIN FYTEN FROM SOUTH CAROLINA

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that forward Austin Fyten has been recalled from the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays.   The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.

Fyten, 24, has dressed in all six of the Stingrays’ games this season, and has produced three points (one goal, two assists).  He also ranks second on the team in shots on goal (17).

Fyten is coming off of his first full year in the AHL, dressing in 64 games with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2014-15.  He produced 11 points (two goals, nine assists) along with 85 penalty minutes.

The 6-1, 190-pound native of Sundre, Alberta split the 2013-14 season with the AHL’s Oklahoma City Barons and the ECHL’s Idaho Steelheads.  He notched 20 points (seven goals, 13 assists) with the Barons in 47 regular-season games.  He has a total of 33 points (nine goals, 24 assists) in 122 career AHL games with Texas, Oklahoma City and Lehigh Valley.  In the ECHL, Fyten has recorded 59 points (24 goals, 35 assists) in 67 games with Idaho and South Carolina.

Prior to turning pro, Fyten played junior hockey with the WHL’s Lethbridge Hurricanes and Vancouver Giants, posting 122 points (55 goals, 67 assists) in 194 career games.
