CAPITALS LOAN NEUVIRTH TO BEARS FOR CONDITIONING

ARLINGTON, Va.  – The Washington Capitals have loaned goaltender Michal Neuvirth to the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL) for conditioning purposes, vice president and general manager George McPhee announced today.

Neuvirth, 25, has appeared in seven games with Washington this season, posting a 2-3-1 record with a 2.83 GAA and a .912 save percentage. In 128 career NHL games with the Capitals, the 6’1”, 201-pound goaltender has posted a 57-38-12 record with seven shutouts, a 2.67 GAA and a .910 save percentage.

Neuvirth appeared in 39 regular-season games with the Bears from 2008-2010, posting a 24-11-2 record with two shutouts, a 2.45 GAA and a .916 save percentage. Neuvirth won two Calder Cups with Hershey, leading the Bears to back-to-back AHL championships in 2009 and 2010. The Usti nad Labem, Czech Republic, native was named the recipient of the Jack A. Butterfield Trophy in 2009, awarded to the AHL’s playoff most valuable player. In 40 career AHL playoff games with Hershey, Neuvirth has posted a 30-10-0 record with five shutouts, a 1.98 GAA and a .927 save percentage.
