BEARS SIGN GOALTENDER KEEGAN ASMUNDSON TO TRYOUT AGREEMENT

April 6, 2015

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that goaltender Keegan Asmundson has been signed to an amateur tryout agreement.  The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.

Asmundson, 24, joins the Bears after a short stint with the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays.  In three games, he posted a record of 2-1-0 and notched his first professional shutout in just his second game, a 21-save effort on March 29 at Evansville.

The 6-5, 222-pound native of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota played at Canisius College (AHA) prior to turning pro.  In just three seasons with the Golden Griffins, Asmundson set school records for career save percentage (.930), career goals-against average (2.08), single-season goals-against average (1.96) and single-season save percentage (.930).  Both single-season records were notched this year.

In 45 games at Canisius, Asmundson compiled a record of 18-15-6 with three shutouts.  He was named to the All-Atlantic Hockey Second Team this season, was a two-time Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Month and Four-Time Atlantic Hockey Goaltender of the Week.

Asmundson also played for the North Iowa Outlaws and Austin Bruins of the NAHL, and the Fargo Force and Des Moines Buccaneers of the USHL.
