GRUBAUER ADDED TO EASTERN CONFERENCE ALL-STAR ROSTER

January 23, 2015

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that goaltender Philipp Grubauer has been added to the Eastern Conference roster for the 2015 AHL All-Star Classic presented by Turning Stone Resort Casino.  The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.

Grubauer, 23, has dressed in 26 games for Hershey this season, and has compiled a record of 13-9-4.  His goals-against average of 2.15 is currently ranked 10th in the AHL, and has consistently ranked in the top ten during the campaign.  He is tied for fifth in the league with three shutouts, and holds a save percentage of .920 which is tied for 16th among league goaltenders.

The 6-1, 185-pound native of Rosenheim, Germany has a cumulative record of 41-31-8 in Hershey with eight shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.34 and save percentage of .918.

Grubauer also has a 6-6-5 record in 19 NHL appearances with the Washington Capitals.

Prior to joining the Bears, Grubauer played parts of two seasons with Hershey’s ECHL affiliates.  He posted a record of 19-5-1 in 26 games with the Reading Royals in 2012-13, and a 23-13-5 mark in 43 games with the South Carolina Stingrays in 2011-12, earning ECHL Goaltender of the Month honors once in each season.  While playing for Reading, Grubauer was named a starter for the 2013 ECHL All-Star Game held in Loveland, Colorado.

Grubauer is the third Hershey player headed to Utica this weekend, as he joins defenseman Connor Carrick and center Tim Kennedy.
