BRANDON ANDERSON RETURNED TO SOUTH CAROLINA

January 14, 2015

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that goaltender Brandon Anderson has been reassigned to the ECHL’s South Carolina Stingrays.  The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.

Anderson, 22, made his AHL debut against the Norfolk Admirals on January 10.  He made 30 saves on 31 shots in the Bears’ victory, and was named the game’s third star for his effort.  He became the second Bears goaltender this season – and second former Stingrays backstop – to earn his first career win in his AHL debut (Pheonix Copley, October 13 at Norfolk).

The 6-1, 184-pound native of Langley, British Columbia has dressed in seven games with the Stingrays this season, recording a mark of 1-4-2, a goals-against average of 2.65 and save percentage of .889.

While playing for the ECHL’s Reading Royals in 2013-14, Anderson fashioned his best professional season.  Posting a record of 25-10-1, he finished second in the league in wins, third in shutouts (five) and seventh in goals-against average (2.35).  He was a two-time winner of the CCM/ECHL Goaltender of the Week, nabbing the honors once in January and once in March of 2014.

Anderson has a cumulative ECHL record of 34-20-5 with seven shutouts, goals-against average of 2.60 and save percentage of .903 with Reading and South Carolina.

Anderson first joined Hershey late in the 2011-12 regular season but did not appear in a game.  He finished the final season of his WHL junior career with the Brandon Wheat Kings that year, after starting 2011-12 and spending the three previous years with the Lethbridge Hurricanes.  In 138 career games in the WHL, Anderson has a record of 44-62-17.

The Bears are home to host the Albany Devils on Saturday, January 17 at 7:00 PM.  Tickets for this and all remaining home games are on sale at the GIANT Center box office, by calling (717) 508-BEAR or online at TicketMaster.com.
