FALCONS EDGE BEARS IN OVERTIME

December 22, 2014

HERSHEY, Pa. – T.J. Tynan set up one goal and scored the winner with 29.2 seconds left in overtime, sending the Springfield Falcons to a 2-1 victory over the Hershey Bears on Saturday night at GIANT Center.

The Falcons got the jump on the Bears, striking on their first power play of the game.  T.J. Tynan would work the puck back to the point, where defenseman and leading scorer Austin Madaisky would pick his spot and drive a shot past Philipp Grubauer at 7:40.

The Bears turned things around in the second period, getting the equalizer on a line rush that started with a pass from Tomas Kundratek.  The blueliner found Dane Byers, who in turn dished to Chandler Stephenson.  The rookie wasted no time in snapping a shot past the blocker of Falcons goaltender Anton Forsberg at 5:34.

That would be all the offense seen in the game until the overtime ticked down into three-on-three.  A blocked chance for Hershey came to defenseman Jaime Sifers, who spotted Tynan with a long pass for a breakaway.  Tynan tucked a backhand shot off of the right post and pad of Grubauer, and the puck trickled in for the winner.

Grubauer made 26 saves but fell to 9-8-4 on the season.  Forsberg made 34 saves to improve to 13-3-0.

The Bears return from the holiday break to face the Lehigh Valley Phantoms on Friday, December 26 at 7:00 PM.  Individual tickets for this and all remaining home games are available at the GIANT Center box office, online at TicketMaster.com or by calling 717-508-BEAR.
