PACK HAND BEARS FIRST HOME LOSS OF SEASON

November 9, 2014

HERSHEY, Pa.– Oscar Lindberg scored two goals, including the go-ahead goal in the third period that stood as the winner, and the Hartford Wolf Pack fended off a late Hershey Bears charge to win 3-2 on Sunday evening at GIANT Center.

For the tenth time in the Bears’ 13-game season to date, the club would strike for the game’s first goal.  Connor Carrick took a short pass from Chandler Stephenson and snuck a shot past Mackenzie Skapski on the short side at 2:34, while the teams were each one man down.

But just 59 seconds later, Hartford would work to tie the game on the ensuing power play. Lindberg wound up and fired a shot through traffic that got by Pheonix Copley at 3:33.

Hershey restored its one-goal lead on the first goal of the season from Nathan Walker.  While gliding between the hash marks, Walker held his stick down to deflect a shot from Erik Burgdoerfer behind Skapski at 8:24.

Former Bears star Chris Bourque brought the Pack back even just 55 seconds into the second period.  Hartford came out with possession the entire time before Bourque deflected a Dallas Jackson shot behind Copley.

The Wolf Pack later took their lead at 2:31 of the third.  From nearly the same spot as his first goal, Lindberg picked the upper-right corner with a snap shot past a screened Copley at 2:31.

The Pack, buoyed by strong penalty killing, successfully completed their last of six inside the final minute to hold on for the win.

Copley suffered his second consecutive setback, stopping 26 shots in falling to 3-2-0.  Skapski, who allowed the Bears’ two goals on the hosts’ first two shots, stopped the rest for a total of 22 and kept his record perfect at 3-0-0.

Hershey returns home to host the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Sunday, November 16 at 5:00 PM.  All fans in attendance will receive a one-day pass to HERSHEYPARK valid through July 31, 2015.  Tickets for this game and all home contests may be purchased at the GIANT Center box office, by calling (717) 508-BEAR or online at TicketMaster.com.
