BEARS NAME JOSH CARTER TEAM EQUIPMENT MANAGER

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that Josh Carter has been named as the team’s new equipment manager beginning with the 2014-2015 season. The announcement was made by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.The 23-year-old native of Elizabethtown, Pennsylvania, is a 2013 graduate of the California University of Pennsylvania. Carter played just shy of four full years on the Vulcans’ hockey team, simultaneously serving as the club’s equipment manager. During his senior year, he was tabbed by the NHL’s Anaheim Ducks to serve as equipment manager intern.
While in high school, Carter served as stick boy and locker room attendant at GIANT Center from 2005 through 2009, and watched the Bears capture two Calder Cup championships in 2006 and 2009.
Carter, who will begin his role immediately, has strong roots in the equipment managing profession. His uncle, Doug “Sluggo” Shearer, is the Ducks’ equipment manager, spent a 12-year tenure as equipment manager of the Washington Capitals and a two-year stint with the Bears from 1981-1983.
Carter’s duties will include the ordering, organization, maintenance and distribution of all Bears equipment at home and on the road. He replaces the Bears’ renowned, long-time equipment manager Justin Kullman.
