CAPITALS SIGN FORWARD CHRIS CONNER TO TWO-WAY DEAL

HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears announced today that the organization has signed forward Chris Conner to a one-year contract for the 2014-2015 season. The announcement was made by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.Conner, 30, split the 2013-2014 season within the Pittsburgh Penguins organization. In 19 games with the NHL club, Conner recorded five points (four goals, one assist) and posted 11 points (six goals, five assists) in 17 games with AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
The 5-8, 180-pound native of Westland, Michigan has nine professional seasons under his belt. In 352 American Hockey League games played with the Iowa Stars, Peoria Rivermen, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, Grand Rapids Griffins and Portland Pirates, Conner has produced 278 points (107 goals, 171 assists) and has added 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 24 career Calder Cup playoff contests.
Conner has also appeared in 178 career NHL games with Dallas, Pittsburgh, Detroit and Phoenix, and has registered 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists).
Prior to turning pro, Conner played four years of college hockey at Michigan Tech (WCHA), and put up 129 points (69 goals, 60 assists) in his 151-game career. He was named the Huskies’ most valuable player in both his sophomore and senior years.
