GARRETT MITCHELL RETURNS FOR 2014-2015

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Washington Capitals have signed forward Garrett Mitchell to a one-year, two-way contract, assistant general manager Brian MacLellan announced today.Mitchell, 22, registered two assists and 44 penalty minutes in an injury-shortened 17-game season with the Hershey Bears (AHL) in 2013-14, and served as alternate captain. The Regina, Saskatchewan, native has earned 47 points (21 goals, 26 assists) in 160 career AHL games with Hershey. Mitchell recorded 112 points (51 goals, 61 assists) in 264 games with the Regina Pats (WHL) from 2006-11, and served as the team’s captain during the 2010-11 season.
The 5’11”, 186-pound forward was drafted by the Capitals in the sixth round, 175th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
