HERSHEY, Pa. – The Hershey Bears Hockey Club, in conjunction with Sports Radio 1350 WOYK, announced today that the station will join the Hershey Bears Radio Network full-time in the 2014-15 season. Also announced will be special coverage of eight of the 11 remaining games on this regular season’s hockey schedule. The announcements were made by Bears President/GM Doug Yingst.
“We are extremely excited about expanding the largest radio coverage in the American Hockey League even farther, into York County and beyond,” Yingst said. “This is a geographical area from which a large number of passionate fans of both the Hershey Bears and the Washington Capitals live, and the addition of WOYK can only serve to strengthen the bridge between the affiliates.”
“Our new partnership with the Bears is just a down payment on making WOYK one of the premiere locally-focused sports radio stations in the country,” stated York Revolution President Eric Menzer.
The addition of Sports Radio 1350 to the Bears Radio Network comes as part of a joint announcement made by York Professional Baseball Club, LLC, owner and operator of the York Revolution. York Professional Baseball today completed the purchase of WOYK AM 1350 from WOYK, Inc., the previous station licensee.
