TOMAS KUNDRATEK IS AN AHL ALL-STAR

January 17, 2013

HERSHEY, Pa.– The HERSHEY BEARS, in conjunction with the American Hockey League, announced today that defenseman Tomas Kundratek has been named to the AHL Eastern Conference All-Star squad.  The announcement was made by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.

Kundratek, 23, was acquired by the BEARS in exchange for forward Francois Bouchard on November 8, 2011.  After playing in only seven games with the Connecticut Whale in early 2011, Kundratek immediately felt at home in Chocolatetown and went on to record 23 points (12 goals, 11 assists) and a plus-3 rating in 55 games.  He led all HERSHEY blueliners in goals.

The native of Prerov, Czech Republic matched those exact numbers during the first half of this 2012-2013 campaign.  In his 39th game of the season on Wednesday, Kundratek added an assist to reach a new professional career high in points.  His 12 goals and six power-play goals both rank third among AHL defensemen and his 24 points lead all active AHL blueliners.

Kundratek will join seven other defensemen, three goaltenders and 13 forwards on the Eastern Conference All-Star squad.  This will be Kundratek’s first All-Star Game appearance.
