For the second straight night, the IceCaps drew first blood in their battle with the Hershey Bears. Chase Basily continued his strong rookie season with his 19th goal of the season at 5:03. His goal was right as his team's only power play of the frame expired.Jim O'Brien answered with a power play goal for the Bears with 7:18 left in the period. As Hershey's second two-man advantage turned into a 5-on-4, O'Brien finished a feed from Dustin Gazley to tie the game. Pheonix Copley earned his second point of the season on the play.
The IceCaps countered with a field goal in the second period, including two tallies in 12 seconds to take a 4-1 lead into the dressing room. At 3:06, Patrice Cormier to regain his team's one-goal advantage.
JC Lipon and Scott Kosmachuk struck with 2:06 and 1:54 to play in the middle stanza, to suddenly open a 4-1 gap prior to second intermission.
Julien Brouillette added a power play goal in the final minute of regulation to close out a 5-1 win for St. John's, putting an end to their six game losing streak.
