A CHANCE TO DRAW EVEN: BEARS PLAY GAME 4 WEDNESDAY

June 9, 2010

The BEARS have an opportunity Wednesday night to pull even with the Texas Stars in Game 4 of the 2010 Calder Cup Finals. After dropping the first two games at Giant Center last week, HERSHEY can deal the Stars the same fate in back-to-back home games in central Texas. Faceoff is at 8:30 p.m. eastern. HERSHEY picked up its first win of the series on Monday night, scoring five unanswered goals to defeat Texas 6-3 in Game 3. Andrew Gordon and Kyle Wilson led the way with two goals each, as goaltender Michal Neuvirth earned his 11th win of the postseason. Neuvirth allowed three goals in the first period in Game 3, but allowed nothing over the final 40 minutes of play. It was not only the first win of the series for the Chocolate and White, but also the franchise’s first-ever win in the state of Texas. Goaltender Matt Climie allowed six goals in Game 3, after allowing just four goals in the first two games combined. A win on Wednesday night for the BEARS would assure that a Game 6 will be needed in the series back at Giant Center on Monday night, and it would also make the Finals a best-of-three series with two potential games to be played in central PA. Just one win in the next two games assures HERSHEY of another home game, which would be the latest home game (June 14) in team history. If a Game 7 is necessary, the date would be June 16. Game 4 can be seen at 8:30 p.m. on ABC-27’s digital channel 27.2, which can be seen also on Comcast channel 246 and Verizon channel 461. CSN Washington will also carry the game for fans in Maryland, D.C. and Virginia live, making the game available for fans with DirectTV as well via that medium. Game 4 can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (Soft Rock 100.1 WQIC and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 8:10 p.m. John Walton and ABC-27’s Gregg Mace have the call from Cedar Park Center.
