BEARS LOOK TO EVEN CALDER CUP FINALS SATURDAY NIGHT

June 5, 2010

The BEARS look to even the 2010 Calder Cup Finals at one win apiece Saturday night, hosting the Texas Stars in Game 2 at Giant Center. Francois Bouchard scored the game’s first goal in the second period Thursday night in Game 1, but Texas would rally to post a stunning 2-1 win to take a lead in the series. Greg Rallo tied the game for the Stars in the second, and Scott McCullough picked up his third goal of the playoffs in the third to complete the comeback. It was the first time this postseason that HERSHEY lost a game at home, and just the second loss at Giant Center in the club’s last 38 games dating back to late November. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth suffered his third loss of the 2010 postseason against 10 previous victories, while Matt Climie continues a storybook run in goal for Texas, earning the win after a Game 6 and Game 7 win over Hamilton in the Western Conference Finals. The BEARS announced this week that all three games from Cedar Park Center in this best-of-seven Calder Cup Final will be seen on television here in central PA on ABC-27’s digital channell 27.2. The game can also be seen on Comcast digital cable channel 246 and Verizon channel 461. It was also announced on Friday that the games can be seen on Comcast SportsNet Mid Atlantic in Washington, Maryland and Virginia live next Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Direct TV will carry the game as well on Comcast DC, and the game can also be seen nationwide on Direct TV’s sports package. In the history of the Calder Cup Finals, the team that has won Game 1 has gone on to win the series just over 76 percent of the time. However, the last team to win the Cup after losing game one hails from Chocolatetown. HERSHEY lost Game 1 of the 2006 Calder Cup Finals, and did not have home ice in the series either against Milwaukee. But the BEARS, who even trailed that best-of-seven series two games to one, rallied to win three straight games and take the championship in six over the Admirals. Game 2 can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (Soft Rock 100.1 WQIC and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton, Ed Coffey and Jim Jones have the call of the game from Giant Center. The game will also be carried in the United States and Canada on Sirius/XM Satellite Radio (XM channel 204 and Sirius 208) beginning at 7:00 p.m. All games of the series will be carried on Sirius/XM, with John, Ed and Jonesy on the call for games at Giant Center. Josh Fisher, the voice of the Texas Stars, will be at the microphone for Sirius/XM for all games played at Cedar Park Center.
