HERSHEY BEARS AND TEXAS STARS TO PLAY IN 2010 CALDER CUP FINALS
BEARS WILL MAKE AHL RECORD 22ND CALDER CUP APPEARANCE, STARS ADVANCE TO FINALS IN CLUB’S INAUGURAL SEASON, SERIES STARTS THURSDAY, JUNE 3RD
HERSHEY â€" The HERSHEY BEARS announced today in conjunction with the American Hockey League that the club will face the Texas Stars in the 2010 Calder Cup Finals. The announcement was made today by BEARS President/GM Doug Yingst.
The BEARS head to the final round of the Calder Cup playoffs after one of the greatest five-year runs in AHL history. HERSHEY will play in the Calder Cup Finals for the fourth time in the last five years, claiming the 2006 and 2009 titles.
HERSHEY advanced to its American Hockey League record 22nd Calder Cup Finals Saturday night, defeating the Manchester Monarchs four games to two in the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals. Texas became the fourth team in AHL history to win two Game 7’s on the road in the same postseason by defeating the Hamilton Bulldogs 4-2 on Wednesday night. The Stars, in their first season in the American Hockey League, play their home games at Cedar Park Center in the suburbs of Austin, Texas.
