BEARS AGAIN LOOKING FOR A COMMANDING SERIES LEAD

May 16, 2010

HERSHEY will try to take one more step toward the 2010 Calder Cup Finals Monday, taking on the Manchester Monarchs in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Finals. The series now shifts to New Hampshire, with Monday’s faceoff at Verizon Wireless Arena set for 7:00 p.m. The BEARS lead the series two games to none after a thrilling 3-2 overtime victory Saturday night in front of 10,726 at Giant Center. Chris Bourque was named the game’s number one star, as he scored two goals. His game-winning tally at 10:28 of sudden death gave HERSHEY a leg up in the series heading to Manchester. The Chocolate and White are now a perfect 5-0 this postseason in overtime games, one OT win away from a share of an AHL record. The 2004 Milwaukee Admirals and 1996 Saint John Flames share the record of six overtime wins in a single postseason. Goaltender Michal Neuvirth earned his eighth win of the 2010 Calder Cup playoffs without defeat. Dating back to late November, the BEARS have now won 36 of its last 37 home games. Manchester heads into Game 3 on Monday down 0-2 in the series, and 0-6 lifetime against HERSHEY in postseason play. Gabe Gauthier has been an offensive bright spot for the Monarchs in the series. Gauthier has scored three times in the first two games, and had the only two goals for Manchester in the Game 2 setback along HERSHEYPARK Drive. Monday’s game can be heard via the BEARS Radio Network (100.1 FM and www.Sportsjuice.com) beginning at 6:40 p.m. John Walton has the call of the action from New Hampshire. Game 4 of the series will be Tuesday night from Verizon Wireless Arena, also at 7:00 p.m. Should Game 5 be necessary, it will also be in Manchester, played on Thursday night at 7:00 p.m.
